Wiser Wellness: The Concept of Co-Healing & Co-Evolving

Collective self-care is a term that is currently not as mainstream as it should be. We have all heard of self-care and the importance of taking care of our relationships with ourselves, but what about the time spent with others? Whilst self-care is extremely beneficial there is also room for the concepts of co-healing and co-evolving to become more at the forefront of society. In this article, we will be looking at the importance of collective self-care, breaking down what co-healing and co-evolving are, and how we can, as a community, achieve these goals.

The Importance of Collective Self Care

In most recent times, there has been a movement toward the concept of self-care. As a community, we are relearning old ideals and putting forward new ones which benefit us emotionally, physically, and mentally. Self-care is vital for our own personal growth and our overall sense of well-being.

Whilst self-care is of the utmost importance, the next step would be collective self-care. Self-care is saying “I need to look after me”, while collective self-care is saying “we need to look after each other”. As humans, we need to look out for one another and be able to move forward together.

Collective self-care or communal care can include many things, such as being a better neighbour, supporting others, or making yourself available to people. The stronger we make our bond with other humans, the more likely we will be to pull together during a crisis that could encompass all of us. The pandemic was a perfect example of a time when everyone needed everyone. Through collective self-care, we’re able to support each and every person through these trying times.

What is Co-Healing & Co-Evolving?

So, how do co-healing and co-evolving come into play? Well, both of these concepts feed into what it takes to achieve collective self-care. Co-healing refers to going beyond oneself and connecting with other human beings through opening our minds and hearts. This can offer a group dynamic of support that we might not get from just ourselves. The importance of working on ourselves and taking time out for self-care should always be embraced and in fact vital, but in addition to that, the concept of being able to connect with other human beings in order to help them heal as well as oneself, through shared experiences should be one that is explored and celebrated as well.

You can take part in co-healing in many ways. You could share your stories, update others on your own wiser wellness journey, or, make yourself more available to the people around you. A cup of tea and a chat goes a long way!

By focusing on co-healing, we can also begin moving towards co-evolving. Where self-care focuses inwardly on one person and co-healing involves actions towards a group of people, co-evolving can include many, many, maybe even hundreds of others. This means that everyone is working towards a greater goal that is co-evolving.

How Do We Achieve Co-Evolution?

The short answer is – to focus on the act of co-healing with one another. Whether that be in a digital space, in your day-to-day life, from the comfort of your own home or even in public spaces, it’s vital that we keep supporting each other. We can help bring together human beings and live better together, as one. This creates a more evolved, emotionally intelligent collection of people, which is the core meaning of ‘co-evolving. Keep talking, keep communicating and keep sharing your experiences on your own wellness journeys
